Punjabi riggers preparing to receive the next 36m span ‘I’ girder on top of the pier cap.  Andy spent 5 consecutive nights working with these guys to get their confidence, before correcting a seriously dangerous issue.

The chap on the right told me ‘Sir, this is very dangerous.’  I replied ‘That’s why I am here.’  They started to believe I was OK when the portable welding kit stopped working.  After they had messed around with it for a while and declared it dead, so no more work during that night’s road closure, I said ‘allow me’ and kicked it hard with my safety boot.  It worked fine from that moment on!
