We can’t mention the owner’s name or address, but we have been commissioned to undertake the Structural Engineering for the relocation of a grand 1906 staircase in a listed 4-story Belgravia mansion.  The three flights, weighing about 35 tonnes in all, have to be carefully cut away from their landings complete with marble finishes and wrought iron balustrades; then a loadbearing wall two storeys high has to be demolished so that the staircase components can be relocated using air skates and specially designed cranes.
